The number of cases has increased to 59 with 8 under investigation and 1 resolved.

The main subject of investigations remains 5w30 passenger car automotive engine oils which are claiming to be suitable for use for a number of OEM specifications across leading brands which are sometimes conflicting and sometimes the product’s own formulation does not accord with these specifications.

VLS Case 010150

This case has re-emerged as VLS case 158.

VLS Case 010151

This case has been resolved with the Named Party withdrawing the product from sale at the end of June.

VLS Case 010152

VLS is currently in communication with the Named Party to resolve this case, there are six parts to the complaint and the Named Party has met one part of the complaint.

VLS Case 010153

Communication from the Named Party has been forwarded to the Technical Review Panel for comment. The Named Party is fully cooperating with the case investigation.

VLS Case 010154

A second communication from the Named Party has been forwarded to the Technical Review Panel for comment. The Named Party is fully cooperating with the case investigation.

VLS Case 010155

The Named Party has revised the product’s Technical Data Sheet following communication with VLS and their second response has been sent to the Technical Review Panel for comment.

VLS Case 010156

A letter has been sent to the Named Party on the 19th June informing them of the investigation and triggering the 28 day consultation period.

 VLS Case 010157

This case concerned claims made against superseded ACEA Engine Oil sequences and the use of year date markers which have now both been corrected by the Named Party.

VLS Case 010158

The product is currently being sourced and tested for its physical properties to progress the investigation.

VLS Case 010159

This is a new case whereby the Named Party has applied a registered trademark to their lubricant products which in the view of VLS, could have the potential to confuse End Users. This case is currently being discussed with the relevant statutory authorities.
